Training Description

. Research indicates that crisis intervention training is essential for managing emotional stress and reducing the risk of trauma-related relapse. Within our community, there remains a population of citizens grappling with family, workplace, and community trauma. Therefore, it is critical to establish a concerted communication and crisis response plan for individuals serving marginalized populations. OOPS recognizes that crisis intervention knowledge is a glossed-over, yet vital element for stabilization needed for long-term recovery.

Training Objectives

  • Be able to define a traumatic experience and trauma trigger
  • Be able to understand the physical, emotional and mental impact traumatic events have on the human psyche
  • Be able to identify and define a crisis
  • Be able to define crisis intervention
  • Be able to utilize all forms of communication in a crisis
  • Be able to effectively stabilize and restore (or redirect) someone in crisis mode
